The impressive heritage listed clubhouse (circa 1890) combines many features of the original homestead with modern practicality, seating 150 people and big enough to hold 250 people for a cocktail style wedding. Offering a mix of traditional Australian cuisine with a modern twist, Heidelberg Golf Club is an absolutley stunning venue that won’t leave you dissapointed. The first meeting of the golf subcommittee of the Heidelberg House Company met on March 1, 1928. A number of issues were discussed including the setting of fees and the types of membership categories. On April 26, 1928, HGC was admitted to the Victorian Golf Association. By June 1, 1928, the first 12 holes were ready for play. On the night before the President, Mr Sharwood, hosted a dinner at the Golf Club Hotel for the members of the golf committee. Just four weeks later, the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Mr Stanley Bruce, officially opened the course. By all accounts it was a successful day with good weather and a large crowd. Mr and Mrs Bruce returned on April 18, 1931 to officially open the 18 hole course.
